Baby's First Newsletter (aka an introduction)

Hi there! I decided to try out this whole newsletter thing. It's something I've been asked about before, but I couldn't find a way of making one that I liked that didn't also cost a buttload of money.

Enter my good pal and fellow writer JM Guilfoyle, who let me in on the very cool platform that is Substack. I had no idea it existed before today, but I think it’s an awesome tool. But unless you’re already familiar with my work (and my tendency to ramble), you’d probably like an introduction to who I am and what I do. Otherwise this is kind of like reading a stranger’s journal, and that’s just weird.

My name is Samantha (or Sam, or Sammy, or whatever floats your boat), and I’m an author, grad student, and copywriter from New Hampshire. So far I’ve self-published three adult mystery/thriller/LGBTQ+ novels (Stitches, Scar Tissue, and Wounded), and my fourth book is not only a spinoff from my first series, it’s also my thesis project. I also have three short stories currently available on Kindle Vella, which I’ll link through my website.

When I’m not writing for fun, I’m writing for work. And when I’m not doing either of those things, I like cats, archery, video games, gardening, and a lot of other stuff. Right now I don’t have much to share writing-wise aside from the fact that I’m close to reaching 40,000 words on Project Renegade (the aforementioned fourth novel/thesis project). That’s half of the minimum word count for my thesis, and I’m still about a year off from my capstone, so I think I’m in decent shape.
