I'm unemployed... now what?

I realized today while I was cleaning my (extremely dirty) kitchen that I hadn't shared this news on my Substack, and it seemed like something I should talk about at least a little*...

*Full disclosure: I can’t go into detail about why I’m unemployed after almost 3 years, only that I am, for legal reasons. If you were expecting juicy gossip, I hate to disappoint, but I will anyway!

For those of you who don’t already know, my day job up until last Monday was as a marketing copywriter in a small agency. I learned a lot about professional writing in that position, and suddenly finding myself without it was like falling overboard on a boat. But, that being said… I’m doing okay.

Physically and mentally I feel the best I have in almost a year, and while the financial reality is frightening, I should be able to hold it together for a bit. (I do have a Ko-Fi account if you’d like to send a few dollars my way, but NO pressure since I know how difficult it is out there for everyone right now.)

So, what now? Well, I’m currently on the hunt for my next position, whether that’s as a copywriter, editor, proofreader, or any/all of the above; if you know of anyone that’s hiring for this type of role (or similar), please don’t hesitate to reach out to me! I’ll share my LinkedIn here too. I’ve had a few bites and some interviews, but so far nothing’s stuck.

While I’m applying to jobs, I’m also working on fanfic and Book 5, and trying to get some things done around the house that I didn’t have the time for before. Cross your fingers, toes, etc. for me - I can use all the help and positive vibes I can get. 🫶🏻
