Receiving My Graduate Certificate, Finishing Up Project Renegade, & a Question About Hardcovers...
Hey everyone! Just wanted to pop into your inbox and say hi, plus share some updates on a few things that I think you'll be interested in regarding me and my writing...
To kick things off, I’m pleased to announce that my Graduate Certificate in Professional Writing conferred as of July 1! 🥳 This is a huge milestone for me and I’m so happy that I was able to study for and receive this certificate as a part of my Master of Fine Arts program at SNHU. I already told everyone on socials, but in case you missed it, I’m also in the middle of the first of three thesis classes and I anticipate graduating with my MFA in Spring 2024.
Directly related to my MFA progress is the news that I’m ALMOST DONE drafting Project Renegade! I’m well into the 3rd act and I’m having a blast writing the scenes that I envisioned since I came up with the idea for this spinoff of the Wolfe & Vaughn Mysteries. In case you missed it, I recently posted a snippet from PR to celebrate surpassing 50,000 words—I’ll link to that on my Facebook page so you can read it. And don’t worry about Wolfe and Scarlett! They’re featured in PR along with a few other familiar faces, and I’m already brainstorming ideas for W&V Book 4.
P.S., If I had to guess, I’d say look out for a Project Renegade Kickstarter sometime in the New Year. 👀
I caved and finally joined TikTok, and I’ve been uploading some promo content there. It’s mostly recycled Reels, but I do enjoy interacting with the #booktok hashtag. If you have any ideas for content that you’d like to see from me in the TikTok format, please don’t hesitate to let me know. Oh, and I’m also on Threads!
Last but not least, Amazon recently added an option for authors to create hardcover editions of their novels in addition to the existing ebook/paperback versions. Fun fact: When I first published Stitches, I actually was going to have hardcovers available through Barnes & Noble, but scrapped that idea because their customer service for authors was/is abysmal. As a result, I’m the proud owner of one of the only hardcover copies of Stitches, flaws and all. My question for you is this: Would you buy a hardcover version of one or all of my books if I made them available? It would cost me a little time and money, so please vote honestly:
This poll will be active for 3 days, and I’ll take the info I get from it into account when I make my decision re: hardcovers. That’s all I’ve got for right now, so I’m going to sign off—hopefully the next newsletter I send will be to tell you that the first draft of PR is complete!
